A still life from the warm days of august, draw with soft or chalk pastels on paper working across the surface and enjoying the dance of colours before me. The more I focus the interest grows for me as i look how the light hits the fruits.
In Japanese culture the harvesting of the fruits which generally takes place in June, which is a rainy season. This gives the June rain the name of “plum rain” or tsuyu. I rather like the idea of this it would provide with some interesting I am sure here in Devon.
The title is the Japanese term for harvesting the plums meaning plum work. I should add that the Japanese enjoy a special green plum the prunus mume which is pickled.
