Sharpham to Totnes , Summer.
A landscape looking towards the town of Totnes from Sharpham House in the first days of Summer. A storm that caused damage on the other side of Atlantic has a last bit energy. Warm weather and summer colours emerging. The fields in Devon turn red as the early harvests are gathered and the fields ploughed to reveal the deep red soil.
This walk from Totnes is one I have done very often, I always marvel at the beauty of the changing seasons and I try get a feel for the very moment and sense of the place. My marking with the soft Rembrandt pastels freezing runs over the surface of this paper. Being if South West of England we get our fair share of rain even during our summer. The winds can get quite a gust up sending clouds scudding across the sky often bringing rain threatening weather. The smell of rain in the summer is something to be cherished.
