Quince Two
£130.00
The painting of this charming fruit after so many charcoal and ink drawing of quinces was invigorating. It was fun to layer up the colours and feel the emerging shape, almost like a women in Reubens painting it seemed to me. Or perhaps the rotund figures of the legal profession depicted by Daumier.
I did the work on paper with acrylics and chose to use a square paper in order to let the quince take centre stage. The form of the quince is described by the edges of the paper. I wanted to make the painting as it were in the minor key, a little melancholic, the subject is walking away from the viewer.
