Spring flowers in May are always a joy to have in the house. These are Medlar stems cut from the little avenue of trees at St Mary’s , Totnes. The pinkish white flowers combined with curled green leaves upon the small branches, each flower has similarity to pear tree flowers.

The idea of drawing regular still life compositions is for me anyway, not only a means of practising drawing but also working on form and composition. These skills are just as important, almost key, for drawing landscapes when out walking.
