The Bioregional project that has developed the Saltmarsh project has totally enthralled me. I have worked from gel prints of reed bed leaves to produce some linocuts. In these prints I worked from earth prints using Saltmarsh detritus. I am using a small studio based hand press and Schmincke water based inks. The mounts are of archival quality in birch wood white.

The sound and feel of first mixing the inks to make the colour I am after and then rolling on the glass plate is for me quite intoxicating. The feel and sound as the small block is inked up and then registered on the Japanese paper adds to the exhilaration of it all. Then comes the moment of truth as one presses and then reveals the new print, like an emergent butterfly drying her wings.

I have added some extra images here to let you see my simple process.

On this print I have used Bunkos-hi  select paper from the Japanese Awagami factory and I am very happy with the outcome.
