Autumn woods
This woodland is a place that I have drawn and painted over many years, largely because the walk to it and the view seem encapsulate the seasons for me. The falling chestnuts on the drive way up to Dartington Hall and sounds of cock pheasants. The winter skylines of leafless tress on frosty mornings and crunchy of frosted grasses under foot. As Spring emerges and the wild garlic bursts up filling the air with its smell. The sound of a drumming woodpecker making its presence known of circling buzzards calling out.Following a shower the vibrant greens of new vegetation full of promise for the year ahead are such a joy. Summer with meadows of wild flowers and buzzing with insects, dancing butterflies and swifts screeching through azure skies.
This painting is on acrylic paper and is in acrylic paint painted from the little study that I shown here. the study as ever is mixed media and was made with site specific pigments and found tools whilst I sat on a bench facing this wood.
