A very cold day
A January walk on a bitterly cold day, as I sat and looked at this view on the Dartington estate, I was exhilarated by the fast moving clouds and changing light. I somehow knew this would be a cold session, as I became engrossed in the midst of winters day with Mother Nature to guide me.The vegetation had flopped against the fence and dabs of light peered through the trees on the horizon line, weak in the winter sun.
I started this drawing using found pigments pencils and charcoal, I am always excited to bring work back from the fields to studio. When I take out my field drawings from my slightly dilapidated leather music satchel, I am excited to see what I have brought back from the day. Each little expedition with nature and seasons brings memories and senses layer across the surface of the paper.
