The Swimming Platform

A view across the River Dart from a popular swimming spot. At first glance, the chaos of colors and lines might seem overwhelming, yet it unravels into a serene depiction of a woodland river. Layered with exquisite detail and lively mark making the scene depicts my vision of nature's flowing from summer in Autumn. Observe how the muted browns and blues intermingle, rendering the water still and tranquil, while the autumnal hues of orange and yellow invigorate the surrounding foliage. The textural technique almost allows you to feel the roughness of bark and the gentle ripple of the water. This work links the quiet solitude found in natural landscapes to our universal desire for moments of peace and introspection.

This place is visited by local people of the town where I live, Totnes. On hot summer days families cool themselves in the river Dart. In the colder months to many continue to take an invigorating dip in the river.
