The path

This little work,is mixed media on pastel paper. The path through the reeds to quiet place to sit and think, an oasis for many local people.I have drawn here over the years, every time there is something new. A sound of the birds or the wind speaking through the reeds, changing light or the tides ebb and flow. 

I have initiated this little piece with found site specific pigments and added charcoal and chalk pastels. Glimpses of the found pigments can be seen on the surface of the paper. It is these little patches of texture that then ‘catch’ the chalk pastels or the charcoal. The sounds of the pastel or charcoal as it “hits’ these marks made in the reed beds using my fingers and earth or stalks of reeds changes and some how makes a connection to the time and place the work was started.
