Summer at the sea

A summer beach is always filled with memories be they at home or some where overseas. I get a buzz from walking down from the coast path and hearing the voices and screams of delight as people splash in the waves. The way the sound carries from the beach is captivating and somewhat nostalgic of something that one cannot quite place. Perhaps like the sound of a cricket ball being struck by a bat on a village cricket ground and hit for four runs.  The figures here are higgledy-piggledy, some standing, some lying. They are suggestions of people painted quickly to resemble a crowded beach without being too figurative.

So this work is really of abstracted figures who have some how carried themselves in to my mind only to be reproduced in paint on this cartridge paper. a joy to make and hopefully a piece that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
