The painting of this charming fruit after so many charcoal and ink drawing of quinces was invigorating. It was fun to layer up the colours and feel the emerging shape, almost like a women in Reubens painting it seemed to me. or perhaps the rotund figures of the legal profession depicted by Daumier.

I did the work on paper with acrylics and chose to use a square paper in order to let the quince take centre stage.

Emerging from a whirlwind of colours, this work engages with its layered application of thick brushstrokes. The composition reveals a fusion of rich yellows and deep greens, creating a textured quality that hints at abstract forms evolving into something new. As the viewer's gaze traverses the intertwined strokes, there is a feeling of movement and organic growth, almost as if witnessing a chrysalis on the verge of change. These visual elements speak to broader themes of transformation and potential, reflecting the evolving nature of contemporary art. The experience conveys tension and equilibrium, leaving a lasting emotional impact.
