This painting of a view on a train platform is as if one is waving good bye to a passenger starting their journey. The work emerged from a sketch I made whilst waiting for a train to get home. It had been a particularly tough day as I remember, I guess I was sort day dreaming as I people watched. I used the sketch at home to make a small mixed collage to establish the composition for a painting. I have put an image of the collage for the viewer to see what  I mean.

I have painted in oil on canvas and wanted to convey a sense period, perhaps of years back. the colours I have used lend a feel of perhaps 1930 or 1940s? A melancholy or nostalgic feel or like the end of a long day and reflecting on it all during a commute home.
