Kitchen Dance

This mixed media drawing of daffodils quietly popping as they open on the kitchen table was done on watercolour board with pencil and ink, adding watercolour as I went.Splashes of colour meeting lines that dance across the paper. I wanted to capture something of the energetic spring surge that daffodils bring into the year. The bowed heads representing that of Narcissus bending down over some water to admire himself. I made another  work using dried daffodils at about the same and this can seen here in still life collection. 

The idea of drawing regular still life compositions for me anyway, is that not only does this mean one is practising drawing. But just as importantly working on composition, both these skills are key for drawing landscapes when out walking, or still lifes.
