Sharpham Marsh No.2

Winter at Sharpham marsh is romantic and sensual. The elements can rush along the river Dart blowing through the reed bed. These reed beds are a vital carbon sink and have a very important environmental contribution to make. To have the honour to sit and draw, using the mud and snapped reeds at my feet is a real reward. Mother nature and natural rhythms of the seasons.

Drawn in January looking from the marsh back toward Totnes, nestled between the hills.

This drawing is slightly wider than my usual little en plein air sketches. The is a fold down the centre of the paper that does not detract from the work, it simply underscores the trials and tribulations of drawing in the field in winter.
