The process of making my own font from carob beans was inspired by the shape and texture of these lovely beans. I laid out each letter using these darling beans in bright sunshine, utilising the lovely shadows that were cast by the beans.

 The carob bean has been used as substitute for the cacao bean to make chocolate. With the failing crops of cacao perhaps as a result of climate change or the need for plenty of water to grow the beans for chocolate production, the carob will be seen as a more sustainable crop to satisfy our needs?

Drawing the letters both in lower case and uppercase in charcoal, allowed me to start the steep learning curve of creating a font. The next stage has been to hand draw each of the letters on to fine Fabriano watercolour paper (300gsm), which you see here. These are all 15cm x 10.5cm as they are handdrawn and coloured they are all unique.The numbers and punctuation will be drawn and made available shortly. When we send out the handdrawn letters, they are each carefully wrapped and packed for you. We can easily arrange for them to be mounted for you if you wish.

I am happy to draw the letters that you would like in upper or lower case as you wish. There are three colour combinations available which are orange/cyan with teal/green (seen here) or cherry red with navy and finally rich green with a mocha.

Pricing; The illustrative price shown (above) is for the FIVE BESPOKE LETTERS  or characters, for more than ten letters five percent discount can be applied.
